Sunday 30th March 2008 Thought I would experiment using my solar filter just over my new Tamron lens. The difficulty here is the brightness on the object and the fact I was holding the filter so concentrating more on not going blind then lining the shot up. The picture is not very clear but it is possible to just make out a sunspot on the surface. In reality that spot is probably about the same size as earth!! Tech Details: Camera: Canon 400D EOS Scope: N/A Eyepiece: N/A Focal Length: 300mm F-number: f/6.3 ISO: 200 Exposure: 1/3200 Second |

Sunday 24th February 2008 Tried to take the moon with my new Tamron lens at full zoom. There are two pics here both taken at the same time from the same position. The only difference is that one is taken with the flash whilst the other is not. You can see the difference in zoom - the Picture taken on 17th Feb was at full zoom with my Canon 18-55 lens. Tech Details: Camera: Canon 400D EOS Scope: N/A Eyepiece: N/A Focal Length: 300mm F-number: f/13 ISO: 200 Exposure: 1/40 Second |

Sunday 17th February 2008 At dusk the sky was turning orange and with the moon visible I wanted to try and shoot - think I've managed to get the sky effect but moon has not come out very well, but you get the idea!!. Tech Details: Camera: Canon 400D EOS Scope: N/A Eyepiece: N/A Focal Length: 31mm F-number: f/6.3 ISO: 200 Exposure: 1/400 Second |

Sunday 17th February 2008 It continues to be clear during the day so tried to soot the moon with just my Canon DSLR camera, the reason for it looking like it was taken at night is due to the high f/ stop. But I assure you that it was brilliant blue skies. Tech Details: Camera: Canon 400D EOS Scope: N/A Eyepiece: N/A Focal Length: 55mm F-number: f/9 ISO: 200 Exposure: 1/500 Second |

Saturday 16th February 2008 If it's nice and clear then sometimes the moon can be seen during the day. So of course I had to try and take some shots. Tuesday 12th February 2008 Don't know what's going on but that's 3 nights in a row it's been clear. Did some more shooting of the moon, on it's First quarter at 23%. This is probably the best one. Shame about the lens flare Tech Details: Camera: Pentax Opti M20 Scope: Celestron FS 114EQ, Afocal Eyepiece: 32mm Focal Length: 6.3mm F-number: f/4.6 ISO: 400 Exposure: 1/30 Second |

March 2007 At dusk the sun was a brilliant reddish disc. I tried to take a shot with Pentax, but don't think the optics could do the justice to the real sight! Tech Details: Camera: Pentax Opti M20 Scope: N/A Eyepiece: N/A Focal Length: 18.9mm F-number: f/5.9 ISO: 100 Exposure: 1/60 Second |

Friday 5th January 2007: This is my 1st moon
picture again, but this time my friend Eric has run it
through some Photoshop filters and it really brings out the
surface features. It looks good small but when viewed as a
larger image it starts to colourise and develop noise round
the edges! |
